Graduation Time
After five weeks of training
sessions, a special ceremony was held at Lighthouse Baptist
Church on Sunday evening, March 26 as a part of our regular
evening service. Six students received certificates of completion
(for this phase of training) with another who was unable to
attend receiving hers later. Some of these students are already
teaching children's classes, a couple are interested in being
helpers, and two who attended aren't saved yet! No, we don't
let them teach, but they help with setup and cleanup and since
they were curious we allowed them to participate. Please pray
that Judy Lin and Sally Guo will accept Christ as Savior. They
both have a few things that continue to hinder them from making
this important decision.
“Would You Help My Mom?”
John and Eric Pan attend
the English outreach class at Lighthouse Baptist Church . Eric,
the unsaved older brother, has been attending for several years.
In fact his teenage son, Peter, was saved at Lighthouse five
years ago. The younger brother, John, claims to be a Christian
but is not very strong and irregularly attends a non-denominational
chapel service. Last year at Christmastime, their ninety-three
year old father passed away. Recently, they received news that
their mother has cancer and the doctors are only giving her
a year to live. It was because of this that we received a phone
call from John that broke our hearts. He said, “My father was
a Christian, but my mother doesn't know God. I would like my
mother to know God. Would you help my mom?” We ask you to pray
for wisdom, opportunity and clarity to present the gospel to
her. There will be many obstacles because of her age, health,
and Buddhist family members; but we trust that the Lord will
provide. Also, pray for Eric's salvation and for John to grow
stronger as a Christian and to get into a good church.
Help Wanted
We continue to help Faith Baptist
Church in the neighboring city of Dali . As you may remember,
fellow missionary Malcom Feistel had to return to the US for
cancer treatments last July and asked us to help his work as
much as possible. A retired US pastor and his wife have been
assisting for the past few months with the English services,
but they will leave at the end of March and so more responsibility
will fall to us again. Please pray for Bro. Feistel's recovery
and for strength and wisdom to help this church in addition
to our work at Lighthouse and the other churches we also assist.
This only underscores the great need for more laborers in Taiwan – both
from home and abroad. Thank you for being faithful in doing
your part!
