The Reason for the Season
“The Reason for the Season” was not only the title of this year’s children’s Christmas play, but also the theme for the month at Lighthouse Baptist Church. The majority of those that attend the children’s Bible club, youth meeting, and ladies’ meeting are unsaved. Once again they clearly heard the message of a loving God who left Heaven and became a man instead of their traditional belief about a man who died and became a “god”. Praise the Lord, Jenny Ju (Ju Lyi-jen), one of the ladies with a Catholic background who attends each Tuesday morning, made the decision to believe in the One True God! Please pray that with the Lord’s help she will overcome some “demons” in her life and be able to grow spiritually.

After a month full of activities, the climax came at our Christmas service. A large group of friends, neighbors and parents all gathered as the church choir sang, the teens presented a choral reading of Luke 2, and the children sang and quoted poems followed by a message proclaiming the true meaning of the Christmas. After the service, we were able to talk with several people including Alice Lin (Lin Hsiao-wen) who is searching for answers to some problems. Would you join us in praying that she will trust in Jesus Christ and find not only answers, but also everlasting life in Him?

The Taya Bible Baptist Church also had a well-attended special Christmas Eve service with the choir presenting the cantata “Mary, Did You Know?” The children participated with a play and special songs as well. It was also a blessing during this time to see some of the teens and young adults take a more active role in serving in the church.

So the seed has been sown and we are looking forward to watering and harvesting in the days ahead! Thank you for your faithfulness to the Lord in 2003 and may 2004 be filled with even greater blessings!
