A Mother’s Love
In our last prayer letter we told you that Jang Yien-mei, a member at Lighthouse, had to return to Mainland China. We were sad to see her go after only a brief time at our church; however, just before she left she did something that revealed her heart’s desire. Knowing that her daughter, Ho Jing-jie, and her family were not saved, she had started bringing her granddaughter to church. Not too long afterwards, her daughter also began attending. While visiting in the home, her daughter shared many things that her mom had written to help her understand more about the Bible and God. Her mom was really concerned about her salvation but knew that Jing-jie had to trust Christ personally. After her mom left we weren’t sure whether she would continue to attend services. To our joy, not only did she attend; but she also responded to the invitation to trust Christ as her Savior and was baptized the following week - all this as a result of God’s grace and a mother’s love! The Lord has already preached our Mother’s Day message for us. Please pray for Jing-jie’s unsaved husband and daughter.
“Cross Strait Talks”
In an effort for further outreach we started a monthly home service. We emphasized that the goal of this service was evangelistic and that those volunteering their home were responsible for inviting unsaved family and friends that would or could not attend a service at the church. Diane Wang (Wang Yuan-yuan) was the first to open her house. Her unsaved husband is crippled and is embarrassed for us to help him up to the meeting area on the second floor. Not only did he attend, but his younger sister also came and both had the opportunity to hear the gospel. After this service, Diane asked Andy to call her family in mainland China and witness to them by phone because she has a great burden for their salvation. It was a new and nervous experience because we were witnessing with our limited Chinese, to folks we hadn’t met personally, and in a country where the phone lines might be tapped. Even though they didn’t accept Christ that night, by God’s grace the gospel seed was sown by phone and, Lord willing, a fellow missionary who often travels to the Mainland will be able to make personal contact soon and continue witnessing. Please pray for Diane’s family and for all of our people to have a burden for their unsaved family and friends.
Thank you for your continued burden for souls both in your “Jerusalem” and “to the uttermost part of the earth”!

For souls,

 Andy & Lisa Simpson
