October 2001

Dear Friends,

This past year Michelle had the opportunity of teaching a group of three young men from Cambodia.  Sopha, Sieu Meng, and Som Aht were all saved in Pnohm Phenn throu the . gh ministry of Jojo Miraflor.  Jojo is a missionary sent from Manila out of the main work of our good friends Eddie and Cindy Lyons.  Before we left the States a couple of years ago, Eddie approached Michelle about the possibility of teaching English as a second language to Asian students he might sponsor to come to Manila in the future.  Michelle then was able to receive her ESL certification from Wheaton College after that through the help of several of our supporting churches at that time.  Upon our arrival in Manila Michelle met and was able to teach these three Cambodian students.  We were able to establish a good relationship with all three.

This past summer Sopha, Sieu Meng, and Som Aht returned to Cambodia to complete Bible College there.  We have the hope of seeing two Cambodian pastors and one missionary to the world serving in the ministry in hopefully the very near future.  Dr. Bob Baird and a group of pastors from the States will be accompanying our friend Bruce O'Neal on a trip to Pnohm Phenn in January 2002.  They will be visiting some Feeding Centers and observe the start of a new church.  We have been invited to go with them from Manila.  This would also serve as an opportunity for Michelle to recruit three more students to be sponsored in Manila throughout the next year.  Tickets are around $550 for each of us with room and food costing around $400 - $500.  Pray for the funds to come in to make this trip.

Thank you again for all your prayers through the weeks.  It is because of the time you petition us to our Father that we are able to minister as freely as we do.  It is great to have you as our ministry partner. Because of your cooperation we remain.

In His service,

Mark Johnson
