HEALTH REPORT

Many of you know that my mother and grandmother both passed away this time last year. I told my dad at my mom's funeral that I'd come back in a year to check on him.  I have three brothers living in his immediate area,- and my sister is only 2 hours away.  So you know, as well as I, that my coming back to check on Dad was really just giving him an opportunity to check on me.  We were able to schedule several meetings not too far from his area.  So that's been our plan for the last year.

About a week before our planned departure to the States, Michelle developed a urinary tract infection.   She took the necessary anti-biotic and thought everything was fine.  As we left on our trip she got sick on the plane.  She doesn't like to fly so we surmised that to be travel sickness.  While going through customs in LA, Michelle felt light-headed and nausea. After effects of the travel sickness, we thought.  Over the next several days she seemed alright; just felt tired and a little achy.  I wrote that off to jet-lag and sleeping on her brother's sofa bed.  All seemed fairly normal within the travel lifestyle, as we made our way to Missouri.  We started a Mission Conference in Springfield our first Sunday back. Michelle developed a low-grade fever that night.  She seemed to improve and the fever would return.  We saw a doctor Thursday morning and Michelle became extremely sick in his office.  He immediately admitted her to the hospital.  It was a couple of days before the doctor actually diagnosed Michelle with an infection of the E coli bacteria.  It had gone to her kidneys and from there into her blood-stream.  It was days before she could even move on her own enough to roll over for another injection.

A few of our churches may have known about this by now.  As one found out they would send out emails and such.  I want to thank you all for your prayers for our safety and protection.  Even if you didn't know until the reading of this letter of Michelle's case, it is your continual prayers that are always at work on our behalf.

Michelle is now out of the hospital, after spending a week there, and at her mother's house. She is resting but is still very weak.  She doesn't have the strength to even go to Wal-Mart yet.  Please continue to pray for her quick recovery.  The doctor wants to do another CT scan in a month as the first one revealed swollen lymph nodes in the abdomen.  As per the doctor, that is a sign of cancer, yet he believes this instance to be in conjunction with the bacterial infection, but wants to be absolutely sure.  Keep this concern as a matter of prayer for the next several weeks.

May God richly bless you for all you endeavor for Him.  The part you've taken in our lives and ministry is greatly appreciated.

Yours for souls,

Mark Johnson
