Christmas in
Cambodia! No snow, no
cold wind to chill the
bones, no chestnuts roasting on an open fire, or Jack
Frost
nipping at your nose. Christmas in Cambodia is 85 degree
heat, swaying coconut and sugar palms, the sound of Buddhist
monks chanting in the distance, and no rain for the past
eight weeks and no rain in sight. Missionaries, though,
have an uncanny way of making everything "Christmas-y" even
in a place like Cambodia. My wife did an excellent job
of decorating our home with garlands and lights. The
tree was beautifully decorated and Christmas carols played
on
the CD player. It actually was very nice! A week before
Christmas, we received a phone call that Cindy's father
had died suddenly of an aneurism. So, my wife flew back
to the U.S. to attend the funeral and help her mom. Christmas
without Cindy! We've been married 20 years and this was
the first Christmas without her.
But I was able to become "Mr. Mom" for a month
and try to do some cooking and cleaning. I have a fresh
appreciation now for my wife now. It might do some of
you guys some good to go without YOUR wife for a month.
That's
the sermon for this month!
The ministry here is going well. We appreciate all of
your prayers! Thank you for those who sent Christmas
cards,
gifts, or sent special Christmas love offerings. Our
family is so grateful for how you shower your love upon
us. We
are just servants of God, nothing more, nothing less.

In the last letter, I asked you to pray for Grandmother
as she was enduring some persecution for coming to
church. God has heard your prayers and she's back in
church,
faithfully attending once again. Thank you for praying!
Thank you and God bless you! |
