Furlough time
has arrived for the Haas family!
Some may ask, “What’s
a furlough?” Following the example of the missionary
journeys of the apostle Paul, missionaries periodically
return to their home church and supporting churches in
order to report personally about God’s work. So,
we are now back in the U.S. for furlough. We’d
love to come to your church and tell you what God has
done, show you some pictures of the victories and challenges
of the past few years, and a vision for the future.

Our work is in the capable hands of our Khmer brothers
and sisters with missionary oversight provided by Tim and
Alison Stephens. God has enabled us to start two churches,
one in Prasponlea Village, Prek Pra Commune, just outside
of Phnom Penh; and the other in Prey Veng, about halfway
between Phnom Penh and the Vietnamese border. Our churches
are Capitol City Baptist Church in Prek Pra and Calvary
Bible Baptist Church in Prey Veng.
The work of the Manna
Feeding Center and Manna Orphanage is going well. We
have nine boys that we’re caring
for and with God’s help and blessings, we can help
more in the future.
We are trying to raise
funds for a van. We have our family of four, plus nine
orphan boys to haul around once we return
to the field. We need to raise about $12,000 for a Toyota
passenger van for the ministry. We also continue to raise
money for land and a building for the church in Prek Pra.
We need to buy Bibles and songbooks. We are also in need
of funds to buy computers. It is better that these be purchased
on the field. Getting things shipped to Cambodia and through
customs is the biggest nightmare you could ever imagine.
The corruption is unbelievable at times. Officials hold
your goods hostage while they ask for “ransom” to
free your goods. The Bible calls it “bribery.” So
the most efficient method to do this is to raise the cash
and buy the things in Cambodia. Please pray with us as
we try to raise this money as well as needed additional
monthly support.
We need your prayers and support! God bless you all!
