We arrived
in
Cambodia in the first week of June 2002. I began studying
two languages, Khmer and Vietnamese. We assisted two young
Vietnamese churches just after we arrived here and continued
helping them and working with them for about one year.
During that time, we saw over 100 come to know Christ as
Savior. In the summer of 2002, we began holding some Bible
studies in Vietnamese and Khmer in a suburb known as Prek
Pra. Both Bible studies did well and eventually, I turned
the Vietnamese group over to Vietnamese pastor Nguyen Hoa.
Cambodia Baptist Bible College graduate Ezra Sok Thy and
I worked together in the Khmer Bible Study in Prek Pra.
Seyhar and Sokhanny, our newest staff workers, came to
work with us last autumn. We began to look for a new place
to meet for the Khmer work, but found nothing but opposition
to our desires to rent a house. Strong forces sent by Satan
were opposing the work of Christ in that particular locale.
We prayed and sought the will of God about where to find
a place to meet. God answered our prayers and moved us
north of our previous location.
While still in Prek Pra, we are in a more densely populated
part of the commune now. God has really blessed us in our
new location. Our church now is growing and many are coming
to Christ, following the Lord in baptism, and some are
going to the Bible College. In the year 2004, it is our
desire to plant a new church in Prey Veng province near
the border with Vietnam. Our folks are giving both to the
church and to missions, as they have a strong desire to
reach fellow Cambodians with the gospel.
