July 2003
Dear Praying Friends,
Thank you so very much for your prayers for Terri and I, and for the work here in Taiwan.
You may have been concerned about and praying for the SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) epidemic that has especially affected the lives of people in the orient.
According to last count there has been a total number of 8562 cases worldwide with 808 resulting in deaths.
Taiwan has had 695 cases with 84 deaths. We praise the Lord for His protective hand upon us, and the church folks here.
SARS has had a great impact on the daily lives of the people throughout the island of Taiwan. You could scarcely go anywhere without seeing people wearing surgical masks for protection against the dreaded disease.
We even had to have our temperatures check upon entering public places such as schools, post offices and other government buildings as well as restaurants like McDonalds.
As you can imagine church attendance has been affected because of SARS. Now that the epidemic is under control things are beginning to get back to normal.
Please pray that attendance at the churches will pick up again. Please ask the Lord to bless us this summer with many souls coming to know Christ as Saviour.
Please pray for God to bless VBS at the churches in Daya and Nantwun which begins next week.
At the end of the month we have youth camp for junior high school teens and above. Please pray that those teens who want to go, and are permitted to attend, may have the finances to do so.
Please pray that God will bless the youth camp with souls saved and teens surrendering their lives to God.
July 1st was the start of summer vacation for most of the students. We praise God for the opportunities we’ve had to spread the gospel of Christ
to children in the public schools.
One of those we met was a little 3rd grader named Foo Jing Chwun. She lost both of her parents in the earthquake of September 21, 1999.
Please pray that she along with many others will hear, and believe in the one true God who loves them.
Thank you so much for being a channel of God’s blessings to us!
Sincerely,
Dave and Terri Green
