Missionaries to the Philippines

Prayer Letter
December 2008

Dear Prayer Partners,

           Groups from the States have been a big blessing to us in 2008. We have had visitors almost every month and each group has impacted our lives and ministries in different ways. In August, we had the privilege of ministering with a group of folks from Sagemont in Houston. We ministered in Manila high schools; but, the highlight of the trip was going to the island of Palawan in the southern Philippines and reaching high schools there with the Gospel. That week we saw over 500 receive Christ as their Savior. This was the first missions trip for several people in our church.

          In September, we hosted a group from Ventura Baptist. We had a great time building a new Sunday School building for one of our satellite churches, enclosing another Sunday School area and painting the building. It was a blessing to work alongside this church. We are also thankful for the building materials, Bibles and new sound board and sound equipment that they purchased for our ministries here. This group touched many lives through their hard work and love for the Filipino people.

          In October, it was our church's turn to take a missions trip to Cambodia and a restricted access country (RAN). We were able to take 24 people from our church on this trip including a family out of our church - the Tamayo family - to help set them up as full time missionaries in Cambodia. They will be starting their first church service on December 21, 2008. For many people in this group it was their first international missions trip; missions came alive for them and they understood in a greater way the need for them to give and help send missionaries around the world. For two people, Erwin and Rose, God confirmed in their hearts that He wanted them to go back to Cambodia as missionaries. God allowed us to see 25 people saved including 7 in underground churches in the RAN we were able to visit.

Upcoming Events and Prayer Requests
January 24, 2009 - 2nd Annual Philippine National Women's Conference

Melanie is expecting 1,000 ladies at this event and we are praying that many will be saved. The cost per lady is $10 and we still need sponsors for many who will attend this conference. This is a day that could change a lady's life for eternity. Please help us sponsor those MANNA mothers, school teachers and others who cannot afford the registration fee. Please mark gifts: Women's Conference 2009.

April 2009 - Youth Camp is April 14-17 and 21-24 in 2009.
We are expecting to see many young people receive Christ and we will also be heavily recruiting for our Bible institute, Baptist College for Leadership, this year. $20 will help send a young person to camp - a week that will impact them for eternity.
10 campers == $200
20 campers = $400
50 campers = $1000
100 campers = $2000

Could you help sponsor a camper this year?  Please mark sponsorship: Youth Camp 2009 on your check to BBFI.

          Thanks to everyone for your faithful prayers and support and for helping to make a difference in the Philippines and South East Asia.

In Christ,
The Gotchers
