21 December 2002

Dear Friends,
Janice and I send you greetings from Jakarta. We arrived back in Jakarta the last day of November from our short furlough. We did enjoy our time in the States as we: acquired a new grandson, welcomed a new daughter-in-law into our family, celebrated the homegoing of my father, and enjoyed fellowshipping with several churches that have faithfully supported our ministry over the years. A special thanks to our son-in-law and daughter, Jeff and Jennifer Preston, and their church Heritage Park Baptist Church in Burlington, Massachusetts who provided us with a place to stay while we were in the States. Pastor Wiedenroth and the folks at Heritage Park made us feel right at home.

We arrived back in Jakarta in time to take part in the Bible School graduation. There were seven graduates, six men and one young lady. During this vacation time, the students are ministering in their local churches and Pastor Tambunan, the head of the Bible School, reports that each week he has received good reports concerning the ministry of the students.

Please continue to pray concerning the purchase of property for the Bible School. We have opportunity to purchase another building next to the present location that could be used for more much needed dormitory space for the men. Several churches have already given toward the property, but we could really use some more financial help on this need. If God leads you to help in this project please mark the special offering for the Bible College.

The churches here in Jakarta are doing well. Right now is an important time for them as they have opportunity to reach out to their communities during the Christmas season. Pray for their safety while they boldly proclaim the gospel truth to people that live in religious darkness, blind to the saving grace of God.

Pastor Hadir of the Sunter Jaya church has plans to marry on the 18th of January, 2003. We have met the future bride, who is thirty-three years young. Please continue to pray for Pastor Hadir and the Sunter Jaya church.

On the personal side, I have struggled with sickness since my return to Jakarta. I am beginning to feel better, but I would appreciate your prayers for my health. Janice is doing fine. We plan to spend Christmas in Bali with Samuel, our son, and his new bride.

For your faithful prayers and financial support we are thankful. May you have a wonderful holiday season.

In Christ,
